It is so great that the young generation is interested in the fine art and the artists that create it.

Today I was approached by an Art Student from one UK College. She asked a few questions about me. I thought that I would share it on my blog as I found those questions quite concise and down to the point, e.g. in just a few words a little picture about an artist can be visualized easily; yet, there are many years of work are put into this picture to be whole!

1.Birth date of the artist?

Artist Irina Sztukowski was born in 70s .

2.Where is the artist from?

Irina Sztukowski

is an American artist who was born in Russia.

3.What is the artist best known for?

Irina Sztukowski's art is best known for her watercolor illustrations on mass produced merchandise, packaging of the foods, and home decor prints for interior.

4.What style does artist use? e.g abstract, renaissance, pointillism, ect.

Irina Sztukowski paints in variety of styles from hyper realistic paintings in watercolor to loose free washes in abstract designs. Irina's recent exploration of painting styles resulted in the creation of dozens of Coloring Books that are now sold worldwide on Amazon and in the Book Stores such Barns&Nobles:

https://www.amazon.com/Irina-Sztukowski/e/B07B2PFGQ9

5.What media does artist usually use? e.g acrylic, ink, charcoal, etc.

Irina Sztukowski's favorite medium is watercolour. Per artist's opinion, watercolour is the medium that can do it all from detailed paintings in realistic manner to free-style washes for abstract approach.

6.Where did the artist exhibit their work?

Irina Sztukowski exhibited in the galleries in Russia (back in 1990s) and in the last 10 years, in the U.S., her art was presented at the exhibitions of the cities like San Francisco, Pittsburgh, Pleasant Hill, Martinez, Sacramento and Lafayette in the state of California; as well as in Rochester, state of New York; Naperville, state of Illinois; Evergreen, state of Colorado. Currently most of Artist's works are sold as prints through online galleries such:

I am very pleased that Volume I and Volume II coloring books with

Botanical Flowers

are loved and appreciated by my customers.

But this book, the Botanical Flowers on Classical Black, Volume III, is taking the first place in the sales and public attention:

Clients from all over the world are sending me the results of their coloring books techniques. I get so many great messages that express how much fun my co-creators have when coloring or giving this book as a gift to the friend who likes to color.

I placed here some of the bright happy pages that my art collectors sent to me; and, I really appreciate them sharing their joy and experience;

A new series of Botanical Flowers on black background was inspired by my new

book

that was recently published on Amazon and now is in the book stores.

These flowers look so great and classy on the black with white or off white mat and a simple black frame. I love the clean and decorative look of them. Here are a few ideas with interior decor that included my botanical watercolor flowers in them:

Get your pencils, markers, and brushes ready: the book on Horses, Hearts, and Unicorns is fresh out of the print!!  :)

I am so glad that I was able to work this season with two wonderful artists for my Volume I book on Horses and this one, Volume II. Details on Volume one coloring and activity book is HERE , but in this article I want to share how exiting it was to work on the volume II.

In this book I decided to combine Horses, their beauty in Nature with some mystical creatures like Unicorns. The hearts came to mind since the book one, I wanted to keep them in the book two as well. And what is the best way to go than combine Hearts and Unicorns. This book certainly has some girly feel to it. It is all about love to the Nature, animals, and yes, hearts. I also included many pages of landscapes from my travels and from the travels of my friends. There are barns and California ranches, there are hills of Virginia forests, there are horses from the state of Washington farms. I also went far away from the U.S. as I placed there windmills of Hollands, palms of Bahamas, and castles of Italy:

And here are few examples of Unicorns and Rainbows in the sky:

The activity pages include some challenging tasks but not too difficult to accomplish.

Here are a few examples of the Unicorn Challenge:

In one you will be asked to find which unicorn doesn't have a pair, and another on is made all with dots so when connecting them, you will get a beautiful Unicorn that can be colored later.

It the example above the "blury" lines of Unicorn in the heart can be traced and colored. In another example, resolving the maze will help the Unicorn find the morning sun.

The book is now not only on Amazon worldwide:

Click on the image to see the book on Amazon

It is also sold through Barnes & Noble bookstores:

Click on the image to see the book on Barnes & Noble website

I am so glad that I can share my art with my followers, art collectors, and lovely customers :)

I got so many customers asking me to paint Unicorns that I've decided to incorporate two, no, three of my favorite subjects: Horses, Hearts, And Unicorns; into a new coloring book that I started working on last month. The book is going to be published in October, right for the times of holidays.

I am planning to include there magical scenes with unicorns, rainbows, and yes, hearts; as well I am drawing a good  dozen of  landscapes from my travels.

I am also expanding the section with activities in this book such:

Connect The Dots

Solve The Maze

Find The Differences

etc. etc. etc.

It will be more than 70 page book and a lot of work is ahead. I am also bringing on board a new artist illustrator that is collaborating with me on this book.

This year is becoming a great success as for me as an artist illustrator personally, as well for the art community and my happy Art Collectors and Clients.

Love them All!! :)

Here is a sneak peek to one page of the book that I am preparing in color for the cover:

Five years ago brought my mom to see Lake Tahoe. It was my first visit there too. I always thought that people just used to say it is the great place to go, to see, to stay; and I was sure it is just another "tourist trap" as we say. But when I saw this place with my own eyes I understood that all "Awe" moments that I've heard of were true. This place is amazing, peaceful and really makes you feel serene, still and happy from inside..

Here are a few facts about this lake:

Lake Tahoe

is a large freshwater lake in the Sierra Nevada range of the U.S. It is located along the border between California and Nevada. Lake Tahoe is the largest alpine lake in North America. And it is the USA's second-deepest lake after Crater Lake in Oregon.

Lake Tahoe was formed about 2 million years ago. It is known for the clarity of its water and the panorama of surrounding mountains on all sides.

Many years ago, for sure more than 20, I've visited a beautiful museum in Moscow, Pushkin Art Museum Gallery , and I was impressed with a great collection of Impressionists' paintings.

One of them was by Edgar Degas , Blue Dancers .

The ballerinas were so fragile and light even thought this pastel painting was quite contrasted. The movement of the dancers' arms created a vortex of the painting that keeps viewer's eye "locked" in one dancing circle.

This week I studied this painting carefully (this time online  at the Museum's website ) and I painted my own version of Degas Blue Dancers (above). The study of the Old Masters helps me to understand how they painted and what rules they followed vs what rules they bent.

In research of beautiful places to paint and taking advantage of a cooler Summer day, I've discovered a sweet little garden right in downtown Pleasant Hill, California. These cute turtles that were sunbathing on a wooden float and graceful gazebo attracted my artistic eye and became a great subject for a plein-air session. Painting on a spot is always fun and somewhat challenging. I also used a mixed technique in this painting. Starting with watercolor pencils, then moving to watercolors, and finishing all with black ink touch, it was quite interesting illustrating project.

At the beginning of this year I signed a contract with one licensing company, which wanted to market my art. The managers's choice fell on several of my new Collections, such:

Bicycles

Watercolor Silhouettes

Maps Of The World

I am so glad that those three collections were picked by this company as they have a great success in sales for home decor and interior design projects.

The art is mostly sells through Wayfair Website  and what I really love there is that the artworks prints (as on canvas as well the wall decals ) are quite affordable for my art collectors.

Here I want to show a few best bestsellers :) from these collections with direct links to the artwork in case somebody will be interested to purchase (just click on the photograph and the site will redirect you to the size options and prices).

Here is what sold like crazy - My Watercolor Ballerinas Silhouettes:

these ballerinas look so graceful in the interior decor.

And here is one of the bicycles Series Art, that I called Bikes For All Seasons. It is also became a great bestseller last quarter:

The watercolor silhouettes of the forest paintings attract my customers by their semi-abstract yet semi-realistic approach, great for a contemporary interior decor for sure:

I love that my customers picked as white forest as well the black version.

And here is my new collection of Watercolor Maps that is so popular these days. These three maps were sold multiple times all over the World now!

I am so glad that licensing of my art is so fruitful these days!

Beautiful day at the Martinez marina turned into a great impressionistic plein-air session. I was painting together with tow other local artists.

The morning wind didn't scare us and we made our brushes and pencils useful.

When the painting was completed I placed it on my website for various sizes prints that my Art Collectors can feel the happy moment of a sunny California day at San Francisco Bay together with me:

The work on my new coloring book about Horses had its own mind. When I decided to create a coloring book with Horse Drawings, I had no clue that it will be a totally new format for me compare with Botanical Floral coloring books. I decided to add some activity pages to the book. Then I thought about Mary-Go-Round and drew fun horses from the childhood memories. But I didn't want to place a Mary-Go-Round sticks into my cute horsies. The idea about hearts came quite unexpectedly. Instead of the company of the sticks and bars, and circles; I've added some cool heart designs to my Mary-Go-Round Horses. So the half book is devoted to landscape with horses, half to fun Heart - Horse designs, and as the bolus there are a few activity pages such for example: barn maze, connect the dots, find the differences, and other activities.

So, Heart & Horses, here we come! :)

Book about Watercolor Techniques With Examples of Paintings

It is quite precious moment when  you hold a new book about watercolor techniques, the most interesting subject for watercolor artist. It is even more exciting when the art that you create was admitted to this kind of book that contains more than 365 tips and tricks by more than hundred famous artists.

I am so proud to be selected by editors and author of this book. They chose my painting

Spring In The Mountains

landscape , which I created when was preparing for the workshop and master class at Walt Disney Museum a while ago.

So, I am holding my own paperback copy that publishing agency just sent me. It is a precious gift of colors, techniques, beautiful artworks examples.

I love the idea that author and editors explored not only diverse approaches, but as well they invited artists from different cultures, from all over the world to participate in this publication. It makes this book so universally understandable, and lovely to read. The paintings are amazing. I certainly treasure every page of this watercolor book, and I hope that in the future more books like that will be presented to the public that appreciates the story, easy presentation of a complex subject.

The description of the book explains it all:

Discover the great pleasure and fun of watercoloring with this great tutorial that reveals the techniques to master this medium and bring your creativity to the top, whether you have some expertise or are an amateur watercolorist.

Day by day through a whole year,

A Watercolour a Day

provides fun tips and useful methods that will show you how to play with shadows and lights and layer glazes to produce your own beautiful hues, create textures, and enhance particular features. This book opens the door to a new way of observing your surroundings and enjoying art and life, making the most of every moment. By the end of this book, you will have incorporated watercoloring into your daily life, and you will be well-equipped to start using these techniques in your portraits, landscapes, interiors, still lives, or abstract patterns and will feel completely at ease designing compositions and painting in situ.

Last week I made the best gift to myself what artist can do to the artist (besides buying the favorite paints and brushes of course). I've visited a new exhibition Truth & Beauty at Legion Of Honor museum in San Francisco.

The exploration of both, truly beautiful art and seeing the beauty of truthful comparison of two different centuries in portraiture presentation was really priceless.

The organizers called this exhibition The Pre-Raphaelites And The Old Masters. But as well they can just call it Learn From Old Masters and they will be absolutely right.

The exhibition presented portraits and religious themes from the 15th century European Artists, and the mid 19th end of 19th century masterpieces.

Here is a great example, Sandro Botticelli, Idealized Portrait of a Lady from 1475:

and 1878 oil painting by Dante Gabriel Rossetti, Proserpine:

or  Self-Portrait by Raphael from 1506:

And amazingly well done painting of Henry Wentworth Monk by William Holman Hunt that he created in 1858:

The beauty through the centuries was reflecting in these two portraits as well.

The oil painting by same Sandro Botticelli, the Portrait of a Lady Known as Smeralda Bandinelli, 1470-80. This painting was previously owned by the artist Dante Gabriel Rossetti. He believed that Botticelli used the same model for his painting of Venus:

Later in his career Dante Gabriel Rossetti himself used his wife as a model for many of his paintings, such as a beautiful diptych for example Beata Beatrix, that he painted in 1871-72:

Dante Gabriel Rossetti drew a parallel in this composition between the medieval Italian poet Dante Alighieri's despair at the death of his beloved Beatrice and Rossetti's own grief at the death of his muse, lover, and wife, Elizabeth Siddal.

I also adored the 19th century painters Kate Bunce:

Saint Cicilia , 1901 by Kate Bunce

..and another woman artist Marie Spartali Stillman with her symbolic and stunning artwork Love's Messenger, 1885:

.. portraits by William Holman Hunt:

Bianca, painted 1868-69

and one of his wife, Edith:

The Birthday, 1868

One of my favorite sections of the exhibition was where some amazing watercolors were presented.

In the books print form:

As well as well preserved artworks in watercolor such as an example Cesare Mariannecci's copies of Old Masters.

Just take a look at his Copy after "The Delphic Silbyl" by Michelangelo in the Sistine Chapel, Rome. Mariannecci painted it in 1867 and it is now masterpiece on its own:

Other two copies by him of Botticelli, Birth Of Venus & La Primavera.

Note that the artworks that Mariannecci painted from huge oil paintings of Botticelli are just approximately 20"x16" in size. The precision of a watercolor brush stroke is outstanding. His artworks, the  copy, became certainly a great example of devotion, love to the art, and admirable craftsmanship. If I could I would "camp" there next to these paintings for a week looking constantly at them and possibly make my own copies of the copies in watercolor :)

The exhibition left a very soft peaceful feeling on my Artist's Soul. I saw that the art yet developing through the centuries for sure, has one timeless quality, The Beauty. In our contemporary days it is truly hard sometimes to stop and admire a simple flower, a beauty of everyday life. But the gift of being able that, be in the moment, and have ability to capture it in our hearts is truly, undeniably, PRICELESS!!

Here a few more artwork that I admired at this exhibition, Truth & Beauty:

Isabella and the Pot of Basil, 1862 by William Holman Hunt

Oure Ladye of Good Children, 1866 by Ford Madox Brown

"Leisure Hours" , 1864 by John Everett Millais

The Lady Of Shalott, 1888-1905 by William Holman Hunt

How to Be a Woman Artist in 18th century

Tuesday, July 3rd 2018   -   By: noreply@blogger.com (Irina Sztukowski)   -   feedproxy.google.com

Summer is in its bloom and it seems that whole America is on the move; either for holidays, or for better place to live. Everywhere I drive these days I see the signs Open House, OPEN house, OPEN HOUSE! And with open house there are few great ideas coming to one's mind about interior decor.

Above, a simple office with no window is transformed into a welcoming bright creation space with the Summer Garden,  my painting

In The Garden

The living room decorative interior has organic touch with these

Cherry Blossom

branches with the deep sunrise on the back:

Incredibly well done to fit the warm environment is a triptych of an abstract work of mine in beige. It is provided by one of my partners Pictorem and has free shipping on most of the art pieces from

my gallery :

Another idea for home interior decor in warm tones is

Abstract Map Of The World , and

Abstract Forest . The living rooms with these artworks are truly coming to life with those art pieces on the walls:

And it will be not fair to omit the realistic pieces for bedroom interior decor. The fresh, impressionistic painting

Vintage Storm

adds some peaceful drama with its organic natural brush strokes vs geometrical contemporary lines of the room decor (though I personally would change the frame to a black one with white mat, if I could, just my advice) :

Another great marriage of Classical Art and Nowadays Interior is this piece,

The Tulip Garden . This painting I made after traveling to Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. They have vintage Holland style Tulip Garden set up each spring next to a real windmill from Holland that was given to the city:

Kids' corner will come more vivid and bright with the

Rainbow World Map

. It is also quite educational for children to see the whole wide world in front of them and dream of the future travels, languages, new good friends, the oneness of us all. The learning process doesn't have to be necessarily "framed" but it certainly can be COLORFUL :)

Another incredible possibility of home interior decor with watercolor paintings is to spread the artwork on wall from side to side in the form of a decal. Only one partner of mine is offering so far this kind of service, and I am so glad they do.

Ocean Shore

in your house, a beach house feeling in the urban interior:

And the last but not least a beautiful

Collection Of Butterflies

in watercolor for the home office interior decor. No butterflies were hurt in the process:

Every time I see daffodils they remind me a little suns that shine from inside. They also remind me of my grandma who grew daffodils in our summer house. Each summer she would bring huge bouquet of daffodils to the city and share with our neighbors. In our beautiful, 300 year old city where grass or trees are only in the parks; those tiny flowers were the gifts from beyond. The smell was astonishing. I can remember it when writing this right now. Very good memories!

Since then I've painted daffodils many times; and, I believe I progressed quite a bit in painting manner and technique:

And recently, several daffodils from miniature to a full size ones were included in my new Coloring Book - Botanical Flowers , Volume I:

My studio is now full of creative projects that directly correlate with a new Botanical Flowers Coloring Book , Volume II.

As soon as I finished painting Morning Glory flowers for the book, my imagination nagged me to create a home decor design for the interior.

The results are above. I called this piece a Morning Glory Circle. This artwork is a flow of Morning Glory flowers forming into a beautiful wreath with its gorgeous blues and gentle greens.

Meantime my Art Collectors are sending the results of their work on the Botanical Flowers coloring book volume I. I am so pleased to see the diversity in my dear followers approach:

Here is the sneak peek to the back cover of the new Coloring Book Volume II - Botanical Flowers series.

The creative process is taking up a lot of time; but, organizing and publishing is also quite important in the book creation.
